SARAH Fuller produced a brave performance to completed the gruelling Montane Spine Race.

She finished the recent 268 mile event in a time of 159 hours 13 minutes.

Fuller, who attempted the 2016 race only for it to be called off on day five due to severe weather conditions, was one of only five women to make it the full length of the Pennine Way.

The race requires participants to be self-sufficient for the week they have to complete it, whilst facing harsh weather conditions and testing ascents and descents along the way from Edale to Kirk Yetholm.

The race, widely regarded as one of the world’s most arduous endurance events attracts many international participants.

This year's race was won in a time of 99 hours and 25 minutes by Brit Tom Hollins.

Carol Morgan, a fellow Otley resident, broke the women’s record to finish first lady in a time of 109:54.

Fuller said: “The race was an incredible experience and it was enriching to be stripped back to life’s basics of moving, eating, sleeping and surviving.

"A race like this is very special and it has been an absolute privilege to be able to share the experience with the other racers and race volunteers.”

Otley had a large number of representatives in the weekend’s Rombald’s Stride, a 23 mile course taking in Esholt Woods, Baildon, Rombalds and Ilkley Moor as well as Otley Chevin.

A bright day kept morale high, despite the soggy conditions underfoot. Ed Davies finished first for Otley, with Tom Lynch, Rogan Ashton, Graham Lake, Tom Pomfrett, Laura Clarke, Stephen Boddy, Steve Robinson, Jim Sneath, Liz Fawcett, Sara Richard, Hannah Lupton and Nicky Gifford also completing the race.
