Horsforth St Margaret’s C 1 Pool 6
THE scoreline suggests that this was an easy Wharfedale & District FA Cup first round win for Pool, but for an hour it was far from that.
Despite taking an early lead when Matthew Bilney took full advantage of a defensive misunderstanding to score from close range, Pool were given a real battle.
The young Horsforth side were not going to lie down and created chances of their own.
With no further scoring in the first half, Horsforth took advantage of playing down the sloping pitch in the second half, to score a deserved equaliser.
They soon had a chance to take the lead, but the shot went wide. This let off, and a couple of substitutions galvanised Pool into action.
Two goals from Scott Cater, one a superb angled shot, took the pressure off.
Richard Bull then added a goal, before Tom Fleming made it five, then Cater completed his hat-trick for the sixth.
