INJURY-HIT Yarnbury were forced to ring the changes once again as the unavailability of players further restricted their options for the trip to East Yorkshire.

Dependable John Dodgson returned in place of prop Lewis Atha and Ben Mayes made his debut on the left win while the bench had a youthful look.

Yarnbury were under pressure in the early scrums but some solid tackling kept Beverley at bay. The pressure eventually led to Beverley taking the lead with a Phil Doubleday penalty from in front of the posts.

Doubleday also added the extras when right wing Jacob Holmes scored a try in the corner.

The Yarnbury injury list was added to when flanker Joe Bennett sustained a bad hand injury and Callum Fawcett came on to replace him.

Yarnbury were showing plenty of heart and a period of pressure when they were reduced to 14 men when Dodgson was sin -binned for a technical offence, was rewarded with a penalty by stand-off Will Marshall.

Beverley scored a third try before centre and captain Jason Avieson scored a superb try after carving open the midfield defence before touching down under the posts. for Yarnbury’s first try. Marshall converted to reduce the deficit to 17-10 at half-time.

The second half mirrored previous games with Yarnbury having enough possession to make good ground but lacking a cutting edge.

Beverley countered from kicks and capitalised on Yarnbury’s errors as they scored two penalty tries which were both converted by Doubleday.

Back row Issac Keighley added a fifth try but Yarnbury still had enough ball to make an impression.

Winger Jack Brown had a couple of good runs but the home defence held firm. Certainly,the three substitutes, prop Guy Hawkridge,

second row James Falgate and flanker Fawcett all contributed to the team effort but Yarnbury need to cut out the simple mistakes and poor kicking options.
