JASON Wright conjured up another outstanding all-round display as Burley blew the Aire-Wharfe League title race wide open with victory over leaders Otley.

Wright produced a 4-63 spell and, together with Nick Brook (4-26), rocked Otley back on their heels. Only Chris Thompson managed to defy them, his 83 helping Otley recover from 33-4 to 170.

That looked as though it might be enough when Burley stumbled to 72-5 but then Wright (52no) came together with Richard Brook (38no) and the pair saw Burley over the line despite the efforts of eight different bowlers.

Burley remain in third place but moved to within ten points of Otley, who are now two points adrift of Beckwithshaw.

The new pace-setters made short work of Bilton, bowling them out for 74, and the situation at the Division One summit should become clearer next weekend.

Burley tackle Beckwithshaw while Otley face fourth-placed Horsforth, who have players in great form as they showed in knocking over Kirkstall in short order.

Byron Boshoff (73) took his league tally to 711 runs at an average of 59.25 in Horsforth's 179 before Charlie Swallow stepped up with a devastating 8-19 spell to skittle the visitors for 66.

Kirkstall are all but relegated and Steeton are odds on to join them after going down to Ilkley.

Josh Gill (5-67) helped restrict Ilkley to 191, in which Rory Kroon (41) and Rob Spivey (39no) led the way, but with Henry Wilson taking 4-20, Steeton were dismissed for 113, Stephen Pearson contributing 45 at number six.

Pool's winning run looked as though it might be ended at Rawdon when Bradley Reeve (7-53) and Kuda Samunderu (3-17) bowled them out for 134 – but a 5-43 spell from Jake Zjilinszky turned things round to give Pool a 13-run win.

Promotion from Division Two seems sewn up and it is now a question of whether Guiseley can make up the 12-point gap to Colton and go up as champions.

That will not be easy, Colton cruising home after dismissing Adel for 83, but Guiseley are also in good form, Tom Brady (68) and Chris Wain (6-46) starring as they overcame Calverley by 37 runs.

Skipton took a big step towards safety with a two-wicket win at Addingham. Gary Owens led the way with a 5-23 spell, Ben Holderness (44) top-scoring in the run chase. Henry Barrow had hit 60 for Addingham.

Matthew Hogg took 8-70, including two in two balls to finish off Illingworth's 251 innings, but Harden crashed for 159 and slipped below their opponents into bottom place.

Shane Marshall included three wickets in four balls in his 5-48 as Ben Rhydding were restricted to 215, Robbie Miller (76) and Red Bolton (49) being the main contributors. But Thackley's batting was unable to match their bowling and, with Kervon Christmas taking 5-38, they went down by 124 runs.

In Division Three, Yorkshire under-15 player George Hill hit an unbeaten 53 and, with Tom Smallwood (55), saw Olicanian to 181 before Ed Broadley (4-21) and Sajeed Ijaz (4-19) skittled rock-bottom Upper Wharfedale for 45.

All four of the challengers for the likely three promotion spots won.

Leeds Modernians recovered from a shaky start to beat Alwoodley by 65 runs and there were no concerns for Hall Park, with Sam Dobson (69) starring in their 214-9 before Jonathan Postle (4-53) and Mark McEneaney – whose 4-62 took him to 57 league wickets for the season – dismissed Bardsey for 199.

Mahir Ali (4-26) kept New Rover to 175 and a fourth-wicket stand of 121 between Nick Flood (55) and Danny Groom (64) ensured Tong Park Esholt stay in third spot.

But they are only a point ahead of Green Lane, who won a high-scoring match at Menston. Asif Yousaf (50) and Michael Sanderson (69) were the main contributors to Lane's 275-8 and, despite the efforts of Doug Bradley (58) and a quick-fire 79 from Zarshad Khan, Menston could only make 262 (Mike Ellis 4-73).

Sam Lawrence took 5-40 as Silsden were bowled out for 81, including 31 not out from Tom Greenwood. Sam Wade (32no) and Luke Stockhill (30no) knocked them off with just one wicket down.
