Pre-season friendly: Guiseley 0 Huddersfield Town 1

GUISELEY, who host Bradford City on Saturday, lost their first home pre-season friendly as Championship outfit Huddersfield Town claimed a slender victory last night.

The Terriers gave six of their new signings time on the pitch as Joel Coleman and Huddersfield’s record transfer Christopher Schindler both started, while Chris Lowe, Michael Hefele, Ivan Pavrevic and Jack Payne were all in the second-half team.

It was an entertaining game, with chances at both ends, but the Terriers carried the stronger goal threat and hit the woodwork three times.

Sean Scannell struck the post with a low shot midway through the first half and former Bantam Nahki Wells rattled the bar later on with a dipping volley.

Schindler proved his class as he provided the assist for the game’s only goal, just before the break.

His neat pass from Schindler picked out Scannell and he drove in a low shot from just outside the area.

Both sides made mass changes at the interval but both managed to maintain the same effort and intensity.

The Terriers were denied a second goal ten minutes into the second half when a Kyle Dempsey effort hit the bar but the home side also carved out opportunities.

Tonight Campion are n action for the first time this pre-season as they travel to take on the ExPro Academy side.
