JAMIE Pickering and James Davies made sure the approaching rain didn’t rob Otley of a victory that keeps them hot on the heels of Division One leaders Beckwithshaw.

With Chris Thompson (4-29) and Ricky Halloran (3-38) on top from the start, Kirkstall limped to 18-5 before captain Stephen Booth (47) helped them to a more respectable 113.

Pickering (59) and Davies (44no) then got to work and Otley went past the target with eight wickets in hand in just 12.3 overs.

Meanwhile Beckwithshaw were looking a formidable outfit against Horsforth who had themselves impressed in the early part of the season.

Despite the efforts of Michael Lambert (5-49), Beckwithshaw eased to 241-8. Horsforth hopes were still high until Byron Boshoff and Ollie Hardaker were separated after putting on 60 for the third wicket. After that Istikhar Hussain (4-44) and Yasar Ali (3-19) took charge and Horsforth were bundled out for 154.

Nathan Goldthorp (5-22) led the charge as Rawdon bowled out North Leeds for 172 and half centuries from openers Ben Heritage and George Myers put the visitors on the way to a seven-wicket win.

The weather robbed Pool of what looked likely to be a second win of the season, halting Bilton’s reply to Pool’s 209 at 141-6. Jake Zjilinszky was the Pool star, hitting 14 fours in a century and then picking up 3-15.

The rain also thwarted Burley at Ilkley, where Sam Owen (54) and Ed Brown, who hit 73 in 48 balls, helped Burley recover from 31-3 to 223-8 before the match was abandoned.

James Emmott (4-49) and Stephen Pearson (3-50) restricted Collingham to 187-8 but it was still too much for Steeton who were bowled out for 130.

The batting display of the day came in Division Two where Calverley No7 Ben Waller smashed nine fours and nine sixes in his 102 made in 46 balls. That saw his side race to 268-5 but Thackley were denied the chance to try and top it by the rain

The rain saved leaders Guiseley from defeat at bottom club Follifoot who were only five runs short with 13 overs in hand when the game was called off

With Marcus Brown (5-26) and Richard Nicholls (3-76) on top, Follifoot were struggling to match Guiseley’s 195-6 until Matthew Williams (70) and Umer Yaqoob (63no) put them within touching distance of victory.

Fine bowling from Robert Ellis (3-10), Ricky Palacio (4-39) and Ted Haggas (3-20) dismissed Illingworth for 103 but Addingham were then dumped out for 78, Ben Robertshaw taking 5-22.

An unbeaten half century from Gary Owens helped Skipton to 174-7 before their match with Ben Rhydding was called off.

Harden remain at the bottom of the pack after second-placed Colton passed their 99 with four wickets in hand.

If the most impressive batting was in Division Two, the bowling accolade was in the third tier, a stunning 15-over spell of 9-49 by Sam Lawrence to help Bolton Villas to victory at Menston.

Lawrence tore through the home batting which collapsed from 46 without loss to 109 all out.

Villas lost their first four wickets with only eight on the board but Michael Clarke (45) steadied things and Luke Pickford (13no) and Michael Oldfield (19no) clinched the two-wicket win.

The last 100 per cent record came to an end as Leeds Modernians bowled out Hall Park for 111 in reply to their own 180.

Ed Broadley snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for Olicanian at Silsden. Chasing the visitors 141 in which Chris Wheeler scored a half century, Silsden’s last pair of Tom Greenwood (29) and Manley Du Preez (34no) put on 52 to get within two runs of victory only for sharp fielding by Broadley to run out Greenwood as he scampered for the winning runs.

Waleed Akhtar (80) and Azhar Mahmood (43) starred in Green Lane’s 219 but they were denied victory when the game was called off with Bardsey on 131-7.
