OTLEY A defied the windy conditions to win the Harrogate Golf Union's Ilkley Centenary Junior Team Championship for the fourth year in a row.

A warning of torrential rain forced the competition committee to switch the playing format from 18 holes medal to gross and nett stableford.

Otley A, the hot favourites with Harrogate Union juniors Will Bradley and Daniel Clark-Coates in their ranks, ran out winners with a score of 91.

Bradley contributed 30 points and Clark-Coates 24 as Otley finished nine ahead of runners-up Rudding Park A, with Romanby A in third place, two further behind.

The two individual competitions were won by Pannal golfers. Will Eardley took the under-18 prize with 31pts beating local boy Ryan Clark on countback.

Harry Mountford won the under-15 award with 28pts, one ahead of Harrogate's Jack Ward.

In the Nett Team competition Rudding Park A won the right to represent the Harrogate Union at the YIDU Junior Team Championship to be held at Hessle on August 25.

Result: 1 Otley A (F Power 17, W Bradley 30, A Harm 20, D Clark-Coates 24) 91pts, 2 Rudding Park A 82pts, 3 Romanby A 80pts.
