THE Wharfedale & District Football Association has lost one of its greatest servants.
It's president and treasurer Wilf Chatwin passed away on May 17 after a short illness.
Wilf, whose playing career was cut short by National Service, later went on the referee, and reached Football League level as a linesman.
In 1971 he was appointed to the Wharfedale & District FA executive and one year later became financial secretary.
He relinquished the role of secretary in 1975 but continued as treasurer right up until his death, serving for a total of 44 years.
Wilf was rewarded for his loyalty in 2004 when he was appointed president of the association, a position he held for 12 years.
The Football Association rewarded Wilf for his loyalty and effort by awarding him with the 50 year service award in 2008.
