TWO talented young golfers from Otley will be heading to Spain later this year to compete in the European Junior Open Championship.

Alex Harm and Dan Clark-Coates finished first and third in a West Yorkshire qualifying event at Low Laithes.

Harm won with a gross 78 while Clark-Coates returned a gross 68.

Clubmate Fin Power also competed in the qualifier but missed out on a place in Spain.

Finals week is played over five rounds in Andalucia.

Julie Ettenfield, Pat Lazenby and Roz Copley won the Team of Three Am-Am Stableford Prize Day, at Otley which was organised by Julia Hicks, Margaret Newton and Louisa Carver.

Results: 1 J Ettenfield, P Lazenby & R Copley 84pts, 2 J Howson, L Osborn & S Reid 81pts, 3 J Shaw, C Elsner & I Harder 80pts.

Pam Bradley maintained her fine form, this time supported by Sian Blears and Barbara Cowling, as they won the nine-hole competition with 36 points. Dorothy Balmforth won the nearest the line on the 13th hole.

Returning member, Peter Cartwright, enjoyed the excellent conditions as his 43 points enabled him to win the Midweek Stableford.

Results: 1 P Cartwright 43pts, 2 R Glendinning 41pts, 3 D Allister 40pts.

David Burns and Tom Firth both shot nett 65s to finish first and second in the Victory Cup Qualifier. Colin Matthewman finished third by virtue of the best countback from several nett 67s.
