SAM TORDOFF lies seventh in the British Touring Car Championship standings following his latest outing at Thruxton.

The Rawdon driver finished seventh in the opener and sixth later on with the fastest lap.

After making a quick start in race three, he was challenging for second before contact led to him dropping to 17th spot.

A sterling recovery brought him back to eighth by the chequered flag and puts him seventh in the championship standings.

The results he achieved at the UK’s fastest circuit in their BMW 125i M Sports helped to put WSR to the top of the manufacturers/constructors championship and brought Team JCT600 to within a point of the lead in the teams’ standings.

The BTCC next travels to Oulton Park in Cheshire on June 4-5.

Tordoff said: “The speed we’ve once again shown in race trim has really pleased me this weekend, and yet I leave Thruxton thinking we could have just scored a few more points.

“This was especially so in race three when I made a great start to run second, but then had contact with Dan Welch and ended up off the track and down to about 17th.

“To fight back to P8 was a good result in the circumstances and we had another fastest lap in race two as well.

“I’m seventh in the championship, so pretty light on ballast as we head to Oulton Park, which has been a good circuit for the BMWs in previous years, so I’m confident of making further progress.”
