GUISELEY boss Mark Bower is bracing his players for a “vital” relegation six-pointer at basement outfit Kidderminster on Saturday.

The Lions lie just above the drop zone but can give their survival prospects a major boost by beating the Harriers on their own turf this weekend.

Kiddy have endured a disastrous campaign and lie rock bottom on 14 points, with Bower aware that victory for his men would put clear daylight between the sides.

The Harriers have not played since December 28 owing to various postponements and Bower said: “Kidderminster will be fresh and will have had plenty of time to work on things.

“Equally, we know that you can also be a little bit rusty going into games.

“But it’s a big game and we’ve got ourselves into a position where if we can just string a couple of results together then we could be in mid-table.

“If we don’t take points in the next few games then we are going to get sucked into that bottom four area. But the lads are in good shape after winning at Dulwich Hamlet in the FA Trophy.

“Rob Atkinson and Ben Parker were in the squad last weekend and other lads are coming back into contention as well, so we will have a good pool of players to pick from to face Kidderminster.

“It’s a vital game for us but the lads are looking forward to it and hopefully we can show the same resilience we showed at Grimsby recently.”
