OTLEY'S Tom Pidcock (Oldfield-Paul Milnes), who was just pipped for victory by Dan Tulett (Specialized Racing) in the opening round of the under-16 boys National Trophy Cyclo-Cross Series at Southampton, made no mistake in round two in Derby.
With Tulett an absentee, Pidcock relegated clubmate Ben Turner into second place at Moorways Leisure Centre thanks to a brilliant display of bike handling and power.
Pidcock attacked on the opening lap, and only Turner was able to remotely stay with him, although he never had the legs to bridge the gap and finished 12 seconds behind, with Calum Fernie (Nottingham Clarion CC) winning a three-man sprint for third a further 33 seconds behind.
Former Otley resident Adela Carter (Hope Factory Racing) was seventh in the elite women's race, just over a minute adrift of winner Hannah Payton (Kinesis UK).
