Ossett Albion 1, Guiseley 0

GUISELEY'S final pre-season friendly ended in defeat as the new National League outfit made the short trip to take on Evo-Stik League Division One North outfit Ossett Albion.

It was a positive opening by the visitors, with Mark Bower's men keeping possession well and building from the back. But the Lions fell down in the final third as they failed to produce a cutting edge.

Guiseley paid the price when the home side broke the deadlock, with Albion's former Brighouse Town player Gibril Bojang steering home a glancing header from a corner.

The Lions' best chance of the first half fell to Liam Dickinson following good work on the right by Luke Porritt. But Dickinson, one of the Lions' play-off heroes, was denied as his effort struck the crossbar.

Adam Boyes came off the bench to replace Gavin Rothery in the second half and he clipped a shot narrowly wide as Guiseley pressed for an equaliser late on.

Elsewhere, Ossett's league rivals Brighouse won 3-1 at AFC Emley in their penultimate friendly. Town have another warm-up game on Saturday as the Evo-Stik League kicks off a week later than the National League.
