OTLEY AC won the team prize at the Eldwick Fell Race with Edward Davies finishing fifth, Jeremy Stewart sixth and Liam Dunne, who also took the MV40 prize, in seventh place.

Dunne said: "The race is only three miles long and with 550ft of ascent, and it was my third such event in as many weeks.

"It was a small field of runners and it looked like we had a chance to pick up team prize. The race started on the road outside the gala field and descended for about half a mile before we went off-road and started the gradual climb.

"After the turn around at the top we descended the same climb and then there was a long gradual climb on the road before we jumped a wall to head back to the gala field."

Davies finished in 19:21, Stewart in 19:34 and Dunne in 19:50. Antonio Cardinale also ran the race for Otley and finished in 36:07.

The winner was Matt Lockyer (Pudsey & Bramley) in 18:36 and the first lady in 24th place was Lucy Miller (Bingley) in 22:56.

Joanna Hobson took part in the Humber Bridge Half-Marathon, her first race at that distance, finishing in 2:02:09.

She said: "A gentle undulating run with one big hill is how I would describe it, but I did hear two guys talking at the end saying it was the hilliest run they'd ever done – they'd obviously never been to Otley."

The winner was Matthew Nutt (Wimbledon Windmillers) in 1:15:02 and the first lady in 35th position was Keri Pearson (City of Hull) in 1:26:56.

In the Wakefield Half-Marathon, Howard Jeffrey finished fourth in 1:36:50 with Nick Hodgkinson finishing in 2:21:35.

The race was won by David Wakefield (South Shields Harriers) in 1:20:45 and the first lady in second place was Claire Howard (Totley AC) in 1:33:12.

In the 220mile Wharfedale Three Peaks Challenge, Shane Ewen finished eighth in 3:41:54.

The event is a fundraiser for the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association, and it takes in Birks Fell, Buckden Pike and Great Whernside. The winner was Ed Williams, who set a new course record in 3:14:03 , and the first lady was Catherine Farrow (Ilkley Harriers) in 4:03:11.
