THERE was a one-two for Otley in the third and final race in the John Carr 5K series and it kicked off a successful week for the club's athletes.

Victory went to Jamil Parapia in a blistering time of 15:36 with Scott Harrington taking second place in 16:02 to secure the overall title.

Zack Whitehead 16:09, Tom Midgley 17:09, Mark Hall 17:35 (series MV55 winner), Nicola Lee 22:19, Charlotte Tomlinson with a personal best of 24:38, and Donald Buffham 27:22, completed the Otley contingent.

Andrew Webster travelled to Rotherham to take part in the Askern 10Kwhich was won by Andrew Challenger from Hallamshire Harriers in 33.12. The first lady was Katie Parry from Leeds City in 36.44. Webster finished 248th in 44:45.

Ilkley Harriers Jack Wood won Thursday's second race in the Harrogate District Summer Race League Series hosted by Dragons in a time of 31:31.

Tom Midgley was first home for Otley in 33:09 in a race which doubled up as the clubs handicap race for May.

The Otley performance of the evening came from club secretary John Dade who took maximum handicap points.

Steve Robinson now leads the handicap table on 87.5 points, just ahead of Gemma Harrington on 84, Tom Lynch 83.5 points and Chris Tomlinson 83.

Howard Jeffery travelled to Eton on Saturday for the Sprint triathlon qualifier for the world championships in Chicago in October. Howard finished in a fantastic fourth place in his age group and qualified

Otley’s second claim runner Racheal Bamford upset the odds to win the Bupa Westminster Mile race. Hannah England, world 1500m silver medallist and British middle-distance specialist, was the favourite to take the women’s championship race, but Bamford had other plans.

Bamford made her move in the final stages of the race and left the rest of the field unresponsive as she went on to take a very convincing win with a time of 4:39.

Otley's Harrington won Sunday's the Melmerby 10k which is run over an undulating one-lap course. He returned an unofficial time of 32:56. David Fox and Emma Thomson also competed.

On bank holiday Monday Ilkley Harriers hosted their annual Ilkley Trail race. The 6.9 mile out-and-back route takes in tracks through woodland, fields and moors, interspersed with some short road sections.

Otley had a fantastic turnout for this local race with Parapia taking the win in a time of 41:15. The first lady was Tanya Seager from Stainland Lions in 44:21.

Steven Robinson 50:44, Andrew Webster 55:52, Matt Podd 58:09, Nicola Lee 58:09, Chris Tomlinson 59:54, Eriks Zvaigzne 1:00:09, Lisa Maughan 1:06:39, Gemma Harrington 1:10:36, Hannah Lupton 1:10:36 and Antonio Cardinale 1:47:04, completed the Otley contingent.

Otley ultra-runner Sarah Fuller took part in the Hardmoors 110 which follows the dramatic Cleveland Way National Trail encircling the North Yorkshire Moors and the Cleveland Heritage coastline.

The race was won by Ryan Baker in 21:31:30 and the first lady was Kimberley England in 25:23:01. Fuller completed the race in 35:27:43 and along with her running partner Elaine Wilde was first FV40.
