A GROUP of ten ILKLEY GOLF CLUB lady members returned from a short trip to the Algarve playing at the San Lorenzo golf course, ranked one of the best in Europe.

Fabulous weather and top course conditions were enjoyed by all but the highlight of the trip was a hole in one by Sue Jenkinson. This was achieved on the par three fifth and was witnessed by Vicky Patchett and Vicki Braithwaite.

In weather conditions alternating between warm and sunny and cool and cloudy, scoring was not easy for those OTLEY GOLF CLUB members competing in the monthly stableford.

The top three places in the First Division were determined by count-backs and it was only Craig Leak in the Third Division who emerged as a fairly comfortable winner.

Results – Div 1: J Brook 37 points; D Firth 37; R Stephens 37. Div 2: D J Horn 37 points; W Darby 36; A Cook 35. Div 3: C Leak 41 points; R Peart 38; N Rayland 36.

Diane Pattison, Angela Rhodes and Julia Hodgson organised a Prize Day for the ladies’ section.

A full field of ladies supported the day and the results of the Texas Scramble were:

1 L Binns, M Hollinrake & J Redfern 56.3; 2 F Sutton, A Barrett & L Osborn 57.3. Nine Hole competition: 1 P Joule, A Wheelhouse & S Blears 31; 2 M Dufton, W Laughey & P Coyle 33.3.
