MARK Bower has delivered the biggest prize in Guiseley's history – promotion to the Vanarama National League.

And he has done it at the end of his first full season in charge following a dramatic 3-2 Vanarama Conference North play-off final win at Chorley.

His side clawed their way back from 2-0 down to win with second-half goals from Adam Boyes, Liam Dickinson and Nicky Boshell.

Bower can now look forward to his team rubbing shoulders with the likes of Tranmere Rovers, Wrexham, Macclesfield, and Torquay United next season.

He said: "There are some massive challenges, just look at the names and some of the places we go to play.

"We will have to strengthen and improve but I think a lot of these lads will want to carry on the journey.

"The way we play and pass the ball maybe it will suit us more rather than playing at places like Chorley, Oxford and Lowestoft.difficult places to get the ball down and pass it."

And Bower, who revealed he was asked to consolidate last season and win promotion this season when he was appointed in September 2013, said: "That's both boxes ticked off."

Bower is looking to Altrincham, the team that beat Guiseley in last season's play-off final for inspiration.

He said: "Altrincham have gone up and kept the core of the side that got promoted last season and done well. There will be comings and goings, there always are, but we look forward to it and I have confidence that the lads in that dressing room can do well."
