Yeadon Veterans 5 Ventus United 1

The Wharfedale FA were fortunate to be able to stage both their senior cup finals at Guiseley AFC on Bank Holiday Monday and they were rewarded with some bumper crowds.

First off with a 3pm kick-off was the William Machell and Sons Ltd sponsored Sunday Cup Final which saw Yeadon Veterans finally triumph at the last hurdle with a 5-1 win over their 2013/14 final victors Ventus United.

The two Yeadon sides battled it out with the Vets taking the lead through their prolific scorer Craig Nicholls. Michael James gave them a 2-0 lead before Ventus pulled one back through Billy Summers.

Vets and Nicholls were not finished however and Nicholls went on to claim a hat-trick and bag the man-of-the-match award. He took the score to 4-1 and it was wrapped up at 5-1 by a strike from substitute Andy Carlton.

The Vets were without their skipper Lee Poole who arrived at the ground but had to go home feeling ill.

Vets reached the final by beating Park Row Panthers 7-2, Ilkley Dynamos 1-0 and Shipley Town 4-0.

Ventus defeated Milford 6-0, Horsforth St Margaret's 5-3 and Saltaire Rangers 4-2 on penalties to reach the final.
