THE annual running of the Ilkley Jubilee Historic Rally and Run sponsored by KT Green of Bramhope took place on Sunday in mixed weather conditions.

The 150 mile route devised by Henry Carr started and finished at The Millstones, near Harrogate, with Pool in Wharfedale dry, but the conditions at Pateley Bridge and Greenhow were horrendous, with driving rain and wind.

With nearly 90 competitors coming from Scotland and Wales and with vehicles ranging from a 1958 TR3 and Standard 10 to a 1985 Golf and Nissan Cheery this truly is a National event.

The 2011 winner Howard Warren partnered by 2012 winner Ryan Pickering in Porsche 911 proved to be the class of the field winner overall by just 27 seconds.

Otley’s Andy Pullan, last year’s winner, partnered Matt Warren to third overall and quickest on the special tests. Nick Cooper, also from Otley, finished fifth overall navigating Simon Parson in a Healey Sprite.

The first Autotest of the year took place on Wednesday night at Skipton organised by Nick and Hazel Pullan. David Mosey from Cookridge in his Proton proved to be the quickest on the night after 12 tests beating Henry Kitching by 10.6 seconds. Ian Waddington was only 8.2 seconds further back in third.

Rupert North from Idle in a Mini won class 1 from Stephen Waddington by 15 seconds. Andy Pullan won the under-23 award and Charlie Mason the Novice prize. The next Autotest is on April 29 at Weston Moor just outside Otley at 7pm.
