Horbury Town 3 Otley Town 0

OTLEY Town suffered another comprehensive defeat on Saturday away at Horbury Town in the Premier Division.

The home side were quickly out of the blocks, and took a third-minute lead when a superb cross was converted by breaking midfielder Chris Smith sliding in at the near post.

Horbury went on to dominate most of the first half, but were unable to add to their tally despite hitting the woodwork twice.

For their part, Otley carried minimal threat, and were glad to reach the break only one goal in arrears.

However, despite a stern team talk from manager Dave Morris, the second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with the home side dominant, in particular looking a threat from dead ball situations. Sure enough, it was from a corner that they scored a second goal, a case of fourth time unlucky for Town after they had successfully defended three corners in succession before Horbury finally broke their resistance with a goal by Daniel Cooper.

The writing was on the wall now, and despite a late flurry led by Scott Cater, the home side added a classy third goal converted by Gibril Bojang who had been a thorn in the side of the away defence all afternoon.

So another loss that continues a poor run of form for Town. Next up is a home match against Robin Hood Athletic on Saturday (2pm).
