West Riding County Challenge Cup 1st Round
Pool 2 Yeadon Ventus Celtic 1
POOL progressed to round two following this hard-fought cup tie against their West Riding County Amateur League opponents.
The match was entertaining from the start with both sides playing some good football. Yeadon had the first chance, Temilada Ajimoko in the Pool defence having to clear his lines.
Pool then found their form a fine run down the right by James Carroll ending with a pin-point cross for Matthew Doran to head home.
Pool had further chances as they continued to play flowing football, but Yeadon defended resolutely.
It took until midway through the second half for Pool to score their second goal. Neil Ebdon produced a strong run down the left before crossing for Steve Preston to fire home.
Yeadon pulled a goal back and had another disallowed as Pool hung on for a deserved win. Pool will now play fellow West Yorkshire League side Carlton Athletic in the second round.
