Stanley United 0 Pool 0
THE clash between Division One’s second and third-placed teams was a dour and drab encounter.
Stanley employed spoiling tactics to snuff out Pool’s attempts at playing the good football that had blown away Ilkley Town just three days earlier.
Pool lacked their normal spark but still created a hand full of chances.
They would have taken all three points had Matthew Doran been his usual confident self when taking a penalty instead of firing high over the bar.
Pool remain unbeaten, and are much better than this performance suggests.
