Otley Town are out of luck as late Beeston goal sinks their hopes of a point

Otley Town were unlucky to fall to a West Yorkshire League Premier Division defeat against Beeston in front of a sizeable crowd at the Old Showfield.

Beeston had the better of the first half, although they were restricted largely to half chances by an Otley rearguard marshalled superbly by Jamie Simms.

It was though, a similar story at the other end, with the home side struggling to make any inroads.

The second half was a more even affair, with Josh Waite coming to the fore for Town.

Twice he was denied by good saves from the Beeston goalkeeper, and strike partner Scott Cater was also thwarted when his shot on goal was deflected by what looked suspiciously like the hand of a defender.

At this stage, Town players and supporters alike felt they were not getting their fair share of refereeing decisions, and salt was rubbed into the wound when Beeston broke away to score with two minutes left, despite a clear foul that should have been awarded in the build up to the goal.

This was a tough result to take for Town, who deserved a point.
