ILKLEY’S first appearance in the T20 TB Cup final saw them make Burley fight all the way for their third title.

After winning the toss and batting, Burley overcame the loss of an early wicket with two important stands.

Nick Brook and Ryan Cooper put on 72 while Brook and Ed Brown added 48.

Brook top scored with 62 from 52 balls while Cooper made 27 and Brown a quick fire 28 off only 15 balls.

Their efforts enabled Burley to post an impressive 180-6.

However, on a great track and with a fast outfield, Ilkley were undaunted and set off in pursuit of their target at a great rate.

The large crowd at Burley were treated to some excellent batting as Aussies, Harry Nielsen (69 from 51 balls) and Conor McInerney (66 not out off 44 balls) put on 93 for the first wicket.

Skipper Nick Cockcroft kept up the momentum with 22 in a 67 run stand with McInerney leaving Ilkley within striking distance with five overs to go.

Ed Brown then came on and bowled a match-winning spell for Burley with three overs for just 12 runs including two vital wickets. Ilkley finished just seven runs short in an enthralling finish.

Nick Brook, pictured, picked up another man of the match award and Burley were presented the £200 winners cheque, kindly awarded by sponsors Greenholme Mills Carpet Centre.

PC Sports also provided the white match balls used in the final. The match was a great advert for local league cricket in the area and showcased the obvious talent in the Aire-Wharfe League.
