ILKLEY Cycling Club with The Clarke Foley Centre are organising a Tweed Ride during the daytime on July 3. The event will see riders dressed in traditional cycling wear and in some cases ride vintage bikes.
Tweed rides are popular annual events in London, New York and Tokyo, and now on perhaps a more modest scale also in Ilkley.
The event has been organised to celebrate the Tour de France passing through Ilkley and the surrounding countryside. Stylishly dressed riders will meet at the bandstand on The Grove for afternoon tea followed by a gentle ride to the Cavendish Pavilion and finishing back in Ilkley for hard earned refreshments.
Betty's and Lishmans are kindly sponsoring the event, the nominal entry fee being to help the Clarke Foley Centre's fundraising activities. All are welcome. Further details are to be found on the Clarke Foley Centre web site.
