The fourth round of Dales Council League fixtures were badly affected by the rain that hit the area yesterday, and there were no outright victories.

Division A leaders Halifax Direct had to settle for just four points in their home game against Savile Stars (39-1) before the rain intervened.

Second-in-the-table Leeds Sikh were frustrated by the weather after bowling out hosts Adel for just 113 before the heavens opened.

Nevertheless, the nine points they claimed narrowed the gap at the top to just two points from front-runners Direct.

Perhaps the unluckiest team in this section were Tong Park Esholt, who managed to shoot out visitors, basement boys Cookridge, for just 55 (Jai Aujia 5-16). However, because of the elements, Tong Park never got into bat.

Baildon A (118-8, Tawquir 55, Adres Muhammed 4-29) were stopped in their tracks at local rivals Shipley Providence, and likewise New Wortley (76-4, Safullah Khan 59), at home to Pudsey Congs, also suffered at the hands of the inclement weather.

In Division B, play was only possible at Pudsey Congs B (75-9), who appeared to be in serious trouble at home to Bradford Moor.

Despite all the poor weather, the real winners on the soggy afternoon proved to be Farsley, who, were handed 15 points after opponents Shipley Providence B conceded the match, Farsley taking over at the top by one point over previous leaders Bradford Moor.

Division C top dogs Crompark (36-2) looked in a favourable position before the rains came down after dismissing home side Baildon B for just 87 (Hassan Malik 4-5, Saj Malik 4-32).

However, the nine points gained by the leaders increased their lead at the top to an impressive 20 points - even at this early stage in the season.
