Otley 38, Bradford & Bingley 15

Otley ran in six tries in winning an at times feisty Yorkshire Cup semi-final at home to Bradford & Bingley tonight.

The hosts, who now play Wharfedale in the final next Wednesday at Wagon Lane (6.30), scored their opening try after just 73 seconds via scrum half Stephen Depledge and followed it five minutes later with another by centre James White.

However, National League Two North Otley only scored one more try in the first half – by winger Harry Hudson – and matched that in the second half with three others from flanker Joe Armitage, No 8 Tom O’Donnell and full back Arnie Ellison, fly half Mark Ireland tagging on four conversions.

Bradford & Bingley, who have been relegated from National League Three North and had flanker Chris Fisher and centre Richard Tafa yellow carded, managed tries by winger Adam Wellington, centre Tommy Kanauros and lock Rob Harrison.

Otley skipper Adam Blades said: “Maybe the two tries we scored early led us to believe it was going to be easier.”
