Otley are through to the semi-finals of the Yorkshire Cup without playing a game.
The Cross Greeners had already received a free passage from Sheffield Tigers in the first round, and the dose has been repeated by Huddersfield in the quarter-finals.
“They (Huddersfield) have pulled out due to their league commitments,” explained Otley’s secretary Marc Lawrence.
With Wharfedale already having reached the final after a 47-15 home win over Hull Ionians last Saturday, Otley will play either Bradford & Bingley or Hull, who meet in their delayed quarter-final next Tuesday at Wagon Lane (6.30).
Meanwhile, Otley fly half Mark Ireland has picked up two awards at the club’s players’ dinner.
He won the players’ player gong and the supporters’ player of the year prize.
Will Rigg was Young Player of the Year and Bruce Cowley the Saracens’ Player of the Year.
