Former Otley and Yorkshire hooker David ‘Peanuts’ Pullan, stories of whom are legion at Cross Green, has died.

Known by his nickname from coming to the club when he was 17, David played in the first team throughout his playing career and represented his county five times, featuring against Lancashire in 1960 and Ulster, Cumberland, Cheshire and Northumberland in 1961.

Known for his ability to steal possession off the opposing tight-head prop, he was very mobile and gave great support to his team-mates both on and off the field, as well as having a great sense of humour.

David’s funeral is on Friday at Otley Parish Church (2pm), followed by a private service at Rawdon Crematorium (3pm).

After that, his friends and acquaintances are invited to join David’s family at Otley Rugby Club from 4pm.

The club’s flag will be flown at half mast on Saturday at Otley's SSE National League Two North match against Hull, and there will be a two-minute silence before the game.
