Charles Morgan has been selected for the England Lambs tour of Zimbabwe next month.

The 17-year-old Wood-house Grove student and Ilkley Rugby Club player was picked after some fine performances this season.

The Lambs squad is selected from the best young players at England’s independent schools.

Charles is the youngest son of Ilkley’s head of rugby Rhys Morgan and the Stacks Field Club are helping him raise £1,500 towards the cost of the trip.

This Friday the club is hosting a fund-raising event at their clubhouse and they have lined up two sponsors for the evening.

The Leeds offices of Investec Wealth and Investment Company along with the award-winning law firm DWF LLP, have agreed to back the event.

Ilkley’s rugby chairman Tom Gillon said: "The club extend their congratulations to Charles Morgan for his England Lambs selection.

“Charles will be a mem-ber of the senior squads next season, and we know we have the set up in place to utilise his natural flair.

“We will encourage and develop him to be an exciting and skilled addition to our senior teams.

“Having visited Zimbabwe a few times, I know his tour will be one that will be forever etched in his mind.”

Charles’ elder brother Elliot, currently studying at Northumbria University in Newcastle, has played for Ilkley’s first team at centre this season.

He is a regular for his university and has featured in the Yorkshire under-20s side.

“We are all delighted that both Elliot and Charles have joined their dad at Ilkley,” added Gillon “We all think a lot of Rhys and the work he has done over the past three years, and he will be proud of his sons’ progress.”
