Hunslet Club 2 Otley Town 0
Otley Town suffered a disappointing Premier Division defeat at Hunslet Club on Saturday.
The home side fully merited their victory, and Town must improve if they are not to be dragged back into a relegation fight.
Right from the off, Hunslet were sharper and hungrier, although they struggled to create any clear cut chances.
This was due in no small part to the performance of Joe Currie who was excellent at centre-back for Town. Unfortunately he was in the minority as the rest of the team had a collective off day.
Half-time was reached without score, and the Otley management team hoped this reprieve would signal a better performance in the second-half.
They were soon disaappointed as again Town failed to click into gear, allowing Hunslet to dictate play.
The home side finally took a deserved lead when a cross from the right was headed beyond goalkeeper James Davies, who slipped and could not right himself in time to prevent the ball looping beyond him.
Town’s fate was sealed when Hunslet broke up a rare attack from the away side, counter-attacked at pace, and a fine move culminated in a fierce shot being fired beyond Davies.
This Saturday Town have an away game at Boroughbridge (2:30pm) where they will have to play much better if they are to come away with anything.
