Otley Town 0 Hortbury Town 1

Otley Town suffered a West Yorkshire League Premier Division setback on Saturday when they were deservedly beaten at home by Horbury Town.

Once again they were missing a number of players and on this occasion it finally told as Town struggled to create a noteworthy chance throughout the game.

Both sides struggled to find any rhythm to their play in the first half on the soggy pitch, although Horbury looked the more threat- ening with some neat passers in midfield and pacy front-runners. By contrast, Otley lacked creativity with Sam Jewell absent and missed the combative presence of Toby Harris to lead the line.

Having already had a warning when goalkeeper James Davies was called on to make a double save when the centre forward broke clear of the Town defence, a carbon copy of the move saw Horbury take the lead.

This time Davies was unable to come to the aid of his defenders who were caught square from a long punt forward by the opposing goalkeeper.

Once they had fallen behind, Otley never really threatened to get back on level terms, and in fact the away side could have added to their lead but for a couple of excellent saves from Davies. In the end, Horbury ran out convincing winners and Town must hope that some of their absentees are back for their next match, which is away at Ripon City on Saturday with a 2:30pm kick-off.

This is a replay of the game earlier this season which was abandoned following an injury to the Ripon goalkeeper, who has since retired.
