Eight-try spree as Otley run in 60 points
Dudley Kingswinford 7, Otley 60
Otley climbed a place to 11th in SSE National League Two North on the back of this eight-try romp in the Midlands.
It was 5 minutes before the visitors got into the home 22, Dudley Kingswinford, without looking particularly dangerous, managing good ball retention.
However, Otley showed they meant business when, after a drive had been held, the ball went wide for centre Jack Mackie to go in, fly half Mark Ireland making the first of seven conversions from all angles, which, plus a brace of penalties and a try, gave him a match total of 25 points.
Ireland kicked his first penalty on 13 minutes as Otley began to dominate, although they missed two good opportunities with forward passes.
However, Stephen Depledge, supporting well, took an inside pass to scarper to the line, and a penalty on half-time secured a 20-point lead.
A high return kick from the hosts' restart was allowed to bounce and was secured by Otley, prop Paul Hill racing in from 35 metres, and a confident Otley began to cut loose.
Running back the re-start, winger Alexander Beaumont was given a run to the corner, then Hill went in for his second try and, not to be outshone, lock John Stannard was up to support a Mackie break to outpace the defence.
Right winger Nazir Karim, threatening throughout, showed his speed to score but, just before the close, with Otley up in attack, replacement Peter Knight got away to put Dudley Kingswinford on the board, centre Gareth Brown converting.
However, there was just time for Ireland to chip, follow up and dive on the ball.
