Guiseley boss Mark Bower is delighted with the way his new-look squad is shaping up.

Tuesday’s 3-0 West Riding County Cup win over Ossett Town extended their winn- ing run to four games.

The change in fortunes has coincided with Bower’s reshaping of his playing resources.

Last week Lions’ favourite Danny Forrest returned for his third spell at Nethermoor while experienced defender Matt Clarke, striker Phil Marsh and utility player Paul Ennis all departed.

Former Bradford City player Clarke was released after just one appearance while Marsh has been loaned to Stalybridge who have also signed Ennis.

Midfielder Ryan Williams has now signed dual regist- ration with Goole Town and Macauley Parkinson is on loan to Ossett Albion.

Bower said: “The recent arrivals of Adam Lockwood, Danny Boshell and Danny Forrest give us a strong spine to our side.

“I am happy that I now have cover in all positions despite the fact that the squad is smaller in numbers.

“I also know that we have some good young players coming through from the Academy side.

“Kyle Harrison played at centre back in Tuesday’s cup tie and had a good game.

“He was winning headers all night and was even making runs upfield in the closing minutes of extra time.

“He showed that he can play in the senior side and I would probably have given more Academy players a game on Tuesday if it had not been for their FA Youth Cup tie at Bury the following night.”

The youngsters might get their chance in the next round when Guiseley will be at home to Selby.

Bower said: “With more matches coming up, the strength of the squad will be important and we want to keep our recent momentum going.”
