While all eyes were on Ilkley Harriers Tom Adams as he demolished Olympic triathlon champion Alistair Brownlees course record in the Withins Skyline race at Haworth, Otley’s Sean O’Halloran was going steadily about his business.
O’Halloran, who came home 258th out of 261 finishers in 89mins 05 secs, crossed the line almost 50 minutes after Adams had finished in 39:26.
O’Halloran said: “I really enjoyed the experience, even if it was hard going at times, and will be doing another one soon.
“It was so nice to be doing a race and not worry about the pace I was going or the time I took to finish.
"My target was to complete the race without injury and if I did not come last it would be a bonus. The last challenge of the day was to scrub off the caked on mud.”
