Otley director of rugby James Tiffany is aware that his team must learn from their first defeat in four outings.
Their 24-14 defeat at Birmingham & Solihiull on Saturday was disappointing but they remain third in National League Two North.
He said: “We came up a bit short. After a very successful period for us this was a reality check. We had plenty of possession and chances early in the game which we didn’t take.
“We were also sloppy at time and showed a bit of naivety which cost us in the end.”
Despite the defeat Otley remain in third place and have a great chance to put the loss behind them when they tackle a Caldy side still searching for its first win at Cross Green on Saturday.
“I am not overly bothered by the league position,” added Tiffany. “What really concerns me are our performances and whether we are putting into practice the things we are working on in training.
“Saturday is a chance for us to show we have learned from what went wrong at Birmingham.”
