Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff top Silverstone qualifying
MG KX Momentum Racing enjoyed a fruitful qualifying session as Jason Plato and Rawdon's Sam Tordoff completed a one-two at Silverstone with the British Touring Car Championship title challengers all struggling.
In a tight session there proved to be less than a second between the top 20 drivers in the field with two-time champion Plato just edging out his young team-mate with a time of 58.210sec.
With just Brands Hatch left on the calendar after tomorrow's races, the title is still yet to be decided but all of the main protagonists found themselves further down the grid than they would have preferred.
Championship leader Andrew Jordan just scraped into the top ten for Honda, with current champion Gordon Shedden's challenge to close a 30-point gap to Jordan struggling after he could only secure 15th place.
Colin Turkington, currently third in the overall standings, took fourth place in his eBay Motors BMW with Matt Neal only able to take ninth as he looks to win the title from fourth on the leaderboard.
