Guiseley have made their second signing within a week.

Former Leeds United winger Sebastien Carole has joined the Lions on a non-contract basis, adding to the capture of Doncaster Rovers’ midfielder Paddy Mullen late last week, who will stay until the end of the cam- paign.

Guiseley’s chef executive officer Adrian Towers said of 30-year-old Frenchman Car- ole, who has also played for Monaco, West Ham and Brighton: “He has a tremen- dous pedigree.

“He has decided to bring up his children in the Wetherby area, where they are settled, rather than going back to France, and also has business interests over here.

“Seb had rather fallen out of love with football and we have signed him on a non-contract basis to see if he likes us and we like him.”

Carole made his break- through at Monaco, figuring in their run to the UEFA Champions League final in 2004, before a solitary appearance for West Ham.

Then came spells at Brighton and Leeds, where he made 41 appearances, scoring three goals, before he became rather nomadic, having 37 outings in total at seven clubs, including two further spells at Brighton.

He also had a trial at Bradford City in 2008.

This season the French under-17 and full Martinique international has played for newcomers Knaresborough Town in the Baris Northern Counties East League and npower League One strugg- lers Bury.

Towers said of 19-year-old Mullen, who can also play on the wing: “In a sense he has been a victim of Doncaster Rovers not having a reserve team but I know he is highly thought of by their manager Brian Flynn, who we have a good relationship with from when he was Welsh under-19 manager.”

An old-fashioned winger, Mullen was one of five youth team players who were given a professional contract last season.

These additions compen- sate for the news that Wayne Brooksby broke an ankle in training last Thursday night and will miss the rest of the season.

More good news for Guiseley, however, is that Kevin Holsgrove is available again after a knee injury.

But with the Lions’ Blue Square Bet North fixture list becoming even more congested – the match at Stalybridge Celtic has been re-arranged for Tuesday, April 9 and the home clash against Altrincham will now be on Thursday, April 25 (7.45) – Guiseley have taken further steps towards ensuring they have a big enough pool of players.

Towers explained: “We have registered six or seven of our Academy players for potential first-team action in addition to the two or three who are already registered.

“The new list includes forwards Luke Porritt and Kingsley Charles along with defenders Ryan Dunne and Elliott Scott.”

Second-placed Guiseley meet three teams over the next ten days who could be play-off opponents.

They are at Gainsborough Trinity (seventh) on Satur- day before entertaining FC Halifax Town, who are fourth, on Wednesday – Guiseley’s third game in five days – before another difficult encounter at third-placed Brackley Town a week on Saturday.

The promotion-chasing Lions host Workington Town, who are currently 13th, on Easter Monday.
