Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick was left disappointed by his side’s failure to hold on to a two-goal lead against Colwyn Bay at Nethermoor on Tues- day evening.

Despite going ahead early on and adding a second goal just before half-time, the Lions could not see out the win and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

To add to their frustration they also failed to capitalise on Blue Square Bet North leaders Chester’s draw with Workington.

It capped a bad seven days for the Lions who sandwiched Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Vauxhall Motors with two 2-2 draws against Gloucester City and Colwyn Bay.

Kittrick said: “I’m not happy. I don’t know what’s gone wrong, we were 2-0 up and coasting.

“I think we should have been further ahead in the first half with the possession we had.

“I thought their second goal was a disgraceful goal to give away but we’ve got to dig in now. We’re not having a good time at the moment but a week’s a long time in football.”

Guiseley have only taken two points from their last three fixtures and now find themselves 16 points adrift of Chester with only three games in hand.

Kittrick made no excuses, saying: “We should have defended the first goal better.

“We needed to be the first team to score after the break but we just looked awful, I can’t put my finger on it.

“It looks like we’ve lost our way a bit but we need to dig in and get ourselves out of it.

“I want to get out of this little rut we’ve found our- selves in and get back to winning ways, playing the football we used to play.”

The Lions boss thinks his side’s passing game has been stifled in recent weeks, he said: “I don’t think teams will let us play the flowing football we were playing four or five weeks ago.

“People have to understand that teams will come set up to stop us doing that.”

Guiseley face a tough trip to play-off hopefuls Wor- cester City on Saturday as they look for a return to form going into the end of season run in.

On the prospect of going there and winning ugly, Kittrick said: “We can’t win ugly at the moment, let’s be honest, that’s what was needed but we couldn’t do it.

“I think we’ve just got to be better, I can’t say any more than that.”

The Lions have a rare midweek break before facing third-placed Brackley Town at Nethermoor next Saturday when the home crowd will be hoping to see a return to the winning form of last month
