Neil Sugden gave a tireless display
Didsbury 2 Ben Rhydding 6
This was another impressive performance from the North Men's Division One leaders as they clinically dispatched Didsbury.
It took only four minutes for Rhydding to open the scoring when George Sweeting scored from a penalty corner.
Connor Dowley made good use of his aerial capability and Will Musgrave enjoyed many great balls from him. However, it was a simple through ball from Kieran Borrett which led to the second goal from top scorer Musgrave.
Alex White was sharp and lively and when his shot was blocked by a foot a penalty stroke was awarded for Rhydding.
Musgrave effortlessly popped it away to stretch the lead.
Rhydding continued to work the ball forwards and the defence was solid and disciplined.
David Carter was outstanding in goal and made a great save from a corner to deny Didsbury any hope of a rally.
Musgrave latched on to a well judged pass to complete his hat-trick.
A very good drag flick from a Didsbury corner and defensive errors leaving Carter’s vision blocked led to a goal for the home side. Rhydding replied with Callum Franks turning in a rocket from Tynan Cassidy.
Number six came from Tom Zillessen who was on hand at the post after a corner to convert a Musgrave cross.
Trojan work from Neil Sugden kept the midfield tight but a last-minute consolation goal from Didsbury after a lapse in marking at the back.
This was a great result for Rhydding which was boosted by the defeat of Gateshead by Manchester who lie in second place.
