Olympic triathlon gold medal winner Alistair Brownlee has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List.

The Bramhope-based triathele delighted thousands in London in August when he raced to victory in Hyde Park.

There was no honour for his brother Jonny who was third at the Olympics and later became world champion,
