Boston United 1 Guiseley 3

Guiseley came from a goal down to bank another win that keeps the pressure on Blue Square North leaders Brackley.

They remain just three points adrift of the table-toppers with a game in hand, while Chester are two points off Brackley with two games in hand.

The Lions were enjoying most of the possession in the first half but were stunned when Mark Jones gave Boston a 28th-minute lead.

More bad news followed as they lost Danny Ellis to a head injury soon after – Andy Preason replacing the dependable centre back.

Guiseley reverted to route one and they forged an equaliser in the 43rd minute. Keeper Steve Drench’s long clearance found Wayne Brooksby, who outstripped the home defence before lobbing the ball over the advancing keeper.

Boston struck a post as they almost levelled before the break but three minutes after the interval Guiseley were in front for the first time, Kevin Holsgrove pouncing after a moment’s hesitation by the home defence.

The Lions wrapped up their win 12 minutes from time when Holsgrove fired in after being picked out at the far corner of the six-yard box by Andy Holdsworth’s deep free-kick.
