November 5 has always been a special date in the calendar of every youngster, but for one lucky group of under-12s it was to be a day of once-in-a-lifetime memories.

O2, as a longstanding part-ner of the RFU and keen supporter of grass-roots rugby, invited young players from the senior squad’s formative clubs to attend the England rugby training camp at Pennyhill Park in Bagshot, Surrey.

Jack Booth, who plays at West Park Leeds, was one of 34 young players invited to Pennyhill to watch England train ahead of Saturday’s QBE International game against Fiji at Twickenham.

West Park is the former club of Danny Care, who nominated the Yorkshire club in recognition of its support to the grass-roots game, and Jack met Danny at Pennyhill and watched him train with his England team-mates.

England captain Chris Robshaw said: “It’s been really great to meet the young players and be reminded of the many junior clubs from where we came.”

For Jack, however, superb Pennyhill was, it was only a starter to the main course.

That will come at Twickenham on November 24, when England take on South Africa, and Jack hopefully walks onto the pitch accompanied by England half-back Care.

Even if Danny is not in the 23-man squad, Jack will still be invited to the game as a special guest for the day.
