Three goals in first ten minutes set Guiseley up for county cup win

Guiseley scored three times in the first ten minutes as they romped to a West Riding County Cup second round win at Nethermoor tonight.

Nicky Boshell opened the scoring after two minutes and Josh Wilson doubled the lead from the penalty spot after seven minutes following a foul on Boshell.

Recent signing Kevin Holsgrove, who set up the first gosal with a fine through ball, netted in the tenth minute with a neat finish.

Academy player Luke Robinso played the last 20 minutes and scored the fourth goal five minutes from time.

They put the game out of the reach of their Blue Square Bet North neighbours during a blistering opening.
Guiseley were determined to put their mark on the game from the start in a tie that was a repeat of last season’s final.
Former Avenue player Nicky Boshell opened the scoring when he raced on to a through ball from the impressive Kevin Holsgrove and beat Avenue keeper Ben Higginson in the second minute.
Academy player Zac Dale shot just wide and Holsgrove forced  Higginson into a save before Guiseley increased their lead in the seventh minute.
Boshell was brought down by Higginson and England C international Josh Wilson stepped up to convert the spot kick.
Avenue were stunned but almost reduced the deficit when striker Tom Greaves attempted an overhead kick which went just wide of Jacob Giles’s goal.
Guiseley’s dream start was crowned in the tenth minute when Boshell created the chance for former Colwyn Bay striker Holsgrove to fire home.
The Lions were roaring and Park Avenue’s goal continued to lead a charmed life.
Avenue sent on Rob O’Brien and Paul Walker for  Jordan Deacey and Alex Davidson at the interval.
The visitors started brightly in the second half  and forcing two good stops from Giles before Jamie Jackson flashed a shot just the wide.
Guiseley looked menacing whenever they attacked with Holsgrove clearly enjoying his chance to stake a claim for a regular starting place.
It was his good work that almost produced a goal for Academy player Macaulay Parkinson.
With manager Steve Kittrick keen to give his youngesr squad members game time, Luke Robinson was introduced as a substitute 20 minutes from time for Wilson.
The youngster had the satisfaction of scoring his sides fourth goal in the 83rd minute when he was in the right place at the right time to net after Holsgrove’s shot from a Boshell cross had been parried.
Greaves scored a late consolation for Avenue in the final minute.
