Teenager ordered to pay compensation to glass attack victim

A TEENAGER who injured a man with a wine glass during an incident in an Ikley pub has been ordered to pay her victim £500 compensation.

Laura Tully, 18, of Main Street, Menston, caused a cut to the bridge of Christopher Louram's nose as she tried to throw the contents of her glass over him.

Prosecutor John Bull said Mr Louram had been in the Rose and Crown pub last July when there was a disturbance involving one of his friends and another man associated with Tully.

Mr Louram intervened and the other man was escorted from the premises.

"As Mr Louram tried to leave he was approached by the defendant who was shouting at him,'' said Mr Bull.

Bradford Crown Court heard on Friday that Tully pleaded guilty to wounding on the basis that as she tried to throw the contents of her glass over Mr Louram she ended up hitting him in the face with it.

Mr Bull said the glass smashed causing a one-centimetre cut to his nose which required four stitches.

In addition to the compensation order the Honorary Recorder of Bradford Judge Stephen Gullick also made Tully the subject of a community sentence which involved 18 months supervision.
