A school is hoping some of its old boys will take up the chance to have a slice of nature named in their honour.
Ghyll Royd School in Burley-in-Wharfedale has planted 200 trees to replace those knocked down in gales last year.
The school is relaunching its 200 club, which sees one person awarded £100 in a draw at the end of every term, by offering new members the chance to have one of the young trees named in their honour.
Some of the trees have already been taken, with fathers and grandfathers of current pupils selecting from one of the ash, birch, cedar, oak and rowan specimens available.
“By joining the club, members will be raising money for the school, which leads to the benefit of the children, and you get the chance to win cash prizes at each of the three end-of-term assemblies within the school year, as well as being the owner of a Ghyll Royd tree in our beautiful grounds for evermore,” a school spokesman said.
