Schools use CCTV

Horsforth School and Benton Park School are among those using CCTV cameras in toilets or changing rooms, according to information revealed yesterday.

The two are among more than 200 schools across the country adopting the practice, latest figures show.

The information was revealed by a Freedom of Information request by Big Brother Watch. Director, Nick Pickles, said: “This research raises serious quest-ions about the privacy of school children.

“The full extent of school surveillance is far higher than we had expected, and will come as a shock to many parents.

“Schools need to come clean about why they are using these cameras and what is happening to the footage.”

No-one was available for comment at either of the schools.
