Expansion of waste collections
8:00am Saturday 23rd June 2012 in Local news
A council garden waste collection service will be extended to areas of Bramhope next month.
The scheme is due to start in July in Hilton Grange, Hilton Court, Hilton Mews and Moorland Road, as part of Leeds City Council’s plans to extend the service to about 3,000 properties city-wide.
Adel & Wharfedale councillor Barry Anderson welcomed the announcement.
He said: “I’m pleased that residents in my ward will benefit from the next phase of this scheme.
“Adding garden waste to the range of different collect-ions the council provides was a step in the right direction, and I know it’s a service that has gone down well in the areas that have already trialled it.
“People with large gardens often have difficulty getting rid of this kind of waste, particularly older residents who might struggle with transporting it to the tip. Offering garden waste collections therefore provides a convenient way of disposing of the rubbish responsibly.
“Residents will have the option of opting out of the service if they want, but I’m sure a large proportion of people will appreciate the service and make use of it.”
