Parks are left out of promotional leaflet
11:50am Monday 7th May 2012 in Local news By Newsdesk
Two busy parks in Otley and Yeadon have been omitted from a new information leaflet produced by Leeds City Council.
The authority's Parks Event leaflet contains no mention of either Wharfemeadows Park, in Otley, or Tarnfield Park, in Yeadon.
Ward Councillors Ryk Downes and Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) have flagged up the omission with Leeds to see if a correction can be made.
They said: “I know we are a long way from the centre of Leeds but these parks are an important community asset and should be included in any promotional leaflets.
“We have contacted Leeds to see if the booklet can be amended. Apparently it is too late to change this year’s but we have been promised the parks will be included next year. Local councillors have not forgotten these parks and are sponsoring Sunday band concerts in them during the summer.”
Visitors to Wharfemeadows Park will be able to hear performances from Yorkshire Brass Quintet on June 24 and from Otley Brass Band on July 22.
At Tarnfield there will be shows by the Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel Band on June 3 and Horsforth Leeds City Band on July 1.
