Graham goes for the triple in sport challenge

A Wharfedale runner is preparing to attempt a ‘homemade’ triathlon to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Otley Athletic Club member Graham Lake will begin the first part of the sporting challenge when he runs in the Wharfedale Marathon, an off-road event which starts in Threshfield, near Grassington, on Saturday, June 2.
He will then race in the 500-metre Epic Lakes Swim Series in Ullswater, in the Lake District, on Sunday, July 15, before finishing the triathlon with the York Sportive, a 100-mile cycle ride, in August.
Graham, who lives with his wife and two young children in Yeadon, said: “This is very much a homemade triathlon, and I’m calling it Graham’s Summer Charity Challenge.
“The run and bike ride are both further than I’ve ever done before, and I haven’t swum in open water previously – having only learnt front crawl in the past few weeks.
“Anyone who wants to sponsor me for the event can do so at the website charitygiving.co.uk/grahamlake.”
